RSL Defence Servicewomen’s (Chapter of Sunnybank Sub Branch)
History
The RSL Defence Servicewomen’s Sub Branch was formed in Brisbane in 1946 by returned servicewomen who had served in WWII. The Sub Branch supported the needs of servicewomen throughout its history and proudly participated in a range of commemorative events.
By 2004, the Sub Branch membership had declined significantly. Through a partnership with the Council of Ex-Servicewomen’s Association QLD, membership numbers increased and the Sub Branch was saved and allowed the vibrant group to continue to meet the needs of serving and ex-serving women. Mid 2024 saw that in order for the group to continue to provide Care, Camaraderie and Commemoration for its veterans they would need support and will be known as the RSL Defence Service Women’s Chapter of Sunnybank RSL Sub Branch with effect from 1 January 2025.
