The Bulimba District RSL Sub-Branch was formed through the amalgamation of two Sub Branches in March 2001. The RSL Charter was awarded on 26 June 2001.

One of the original Sub Branches (Vietnam Services) was formed at Morningside in 1984 and met at the Morningside Services Club, where a memorial wall still stands. The other original Sub Branch (Cannon Hill and District) was formed in 1951. In 2016 the name was changed to Bulimba District RSL Sub Branch to better reflect the community location and membership.

The Sub Branch is active in the local bowling club and has a liaison and education program with eight local primary schools. Assistance has also been provided to schools in sourcing funds for memorials.
