Bob Ikin (Army)

Enlisted as an Army Apprentice in 1964 and joined the Royal Australian Engineers in 1966. I served in the Regular Army until 1984 with postings in Brisbane, Sydney, Townsville, Canberra, South Vietnam, and Papua New Guinea. I also served in the Army Reserve from 1984 to 1989.

I come from a long line of servicemen going back to my Great-Grandfather in the Pre-federation Victorian Volunteer Artillery. My father served in the United Kingdom and New Guinea during World War 2.

I retired from full-time work in 2007 after working with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Metway Bank, and the Suncorp Group.

I return to the District Board following a tenure in 2014/15, I have held various positions in my RSL Sub-Branches and the Carina Men’s Shed.
