The Stephens RSL Sub-Branch is named after the Shire of Stephens which was proclaimed on 16 October 1886. Stephens Shire was predominantly a residential district, with some small industries. The Shire contributed 599 citizens who enlisted for overseas service in WWI (96 of whom lost their lives). This commitment represented 14% of the adult population at the time.

Stephens Sub Branch was formed in 1922 and finally received its Charter in May 1926, making it one of the oldest Sub Branches in Brisbane. The Sub Branch operated from its original Memorial Hall until the late 1990s, when this building was sold as part of a redevelopment arrangement with the hotel next door. The Sub Branch now operates from a purpose-built facility located behind the bottle shop of The Junction Hotel.

This Sub Branch looks forward to a bright and positive future as it engages with its local community. We cater for a wide cross section of members ranging from current and past serving Reservists, Peacekeepers, National Servicemen, and veterans from Afghanistan, Iraq, Timor, Vietnam, Malaya, Korea and WW2. This range of ‘expertise’ assists with the Sub Branch’s school education programs and local commemorative activities.
